I was trying to get fios but seems like Verizon is offering Direct Tv in my area. Anyone know why this is?

Mogul, Verizon does indeed offer Direct Tv in areas where their Fios services have not been established. Sometime back may be 4 years or so verizon made a deal with Direct Tv in order to counter efforts by cable companies trying to offer Phone service.

Everyone was trying to get in on the "Tripple Play" deal. This is where companies were offering Phone, TV and Internet services all combined. Some where along the road, Verizon execs sat down and decided it was best to offer their own Tv service. Fios Tv was born.

Whenever they wire an area for Fios, they stop offering Direct Tv in that area and switch to Fios. Funny Verizon was even trying to go after NFL sunday Ticket which Direct Tv still has contracted for several years.

Thanks Fios insider. Can't wait for Fios. Anyone know where I can find information on when Fios will be available in my county?
